In 1963, Bill & Susie decided to purchase a lot in the Berkeley Hills & build a home. They hired William Kirsch, a budding architect in Marin County. At the time, he was working with a developer in Marin who purchased vacant parcels & built houses using modifications of Kirschs plan to suit the particular lots characteristics. 1471 Olympus was a variation of his basic design, but Bill & Susie insisted upon 9-foot ceilings on the upper level & added the upstairs bedroom that was originally used as a study. Despite relocating to the Los Angeles area in the late 60s, they could not let this property go. Bill & Susie were quite attached to their home & in recent years enjoyed visiting their property & drinking coffee in the main living area while soaking in the view. But the years flew by & they never fully moved back to their beloved Mid-century home a& decided it was time to pass this property on to new stewards. Susie enjoyed the fall/winter months when the single tall Liquidambar tree to the north would turn rich shades of red, orange, & burgundy before dropping its leaves to reveal more of the North Bay view. The main living space is full of natural light, bay views, & has all the vibes of a quintessential Mid-century modern home. First time on the market ever!
