In 1963 the family contacted the US Forestry Service and planted around 500 trees on the sparsely tree-studded property. The trees were provided by the Forestry Service free of charge and included Jeffrey Pines, Arizona Cypress, and Incense Cedar. These beautiful trees have grown to maturity, and present a beautiful canopy of shaded areas and tree-lined panoramic views that stretch across Volcan Mountain to southwestern skies. The family made many special memories by planting these gifted trees together. The cabin is within walking distance, about one mile and a half from the historic gold mining town of Julian, CA., and many local attractions, hiking trails, wineries, the wolf sanctuary, and more.
